I got my PRS ce24 last week. I'm just wondering what you guys use to clean and polish, the satin neck
and nitro body with? So happy with the PRS, makes you wonder why I never tried them before!
Thanks in advance, Barry"O"

I'm assuming you got one of the models with the satin-finished mahogany body?

Just a nice soft cloth and perhaps some hot breath should be all you need. If you use polish on it, you'll end up buffing it out to a semi-gloss, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

The body is mahogany with a 1/2" maple cap. I've always used Dunlop 65 on my other guitars, and it worked fine. Just wondered what others use? Thanks for your reply, Garrett.

Gotcha. Assuming it's gloss, the body finish is a urethane in that case. I don't see any reason to not use the Dunlop stuff on it.

The neck finish is nitro I believe. I wouldn't touch it with any polish, personally. I'd just use a bit of naptha on the board when it gets dirty. Otherwise, your hand will polish the back of the neck by playing it.

The gloss V12 finish can be polished with anything, though I personally like Virtuoso polish, which is nitro-safe.

Really, the best thing for the back of the neck is a damp cloth followed immediately by a dry one for cleaning. Naphtha is for cleaning, not for oiling the fretboard. It's the same stuff that's in so-called lemon oil. It will dry out the fretboard if left on, even though it looks oily, all it's doing is bringing the natural oil that's in rosewood to the surface.

Naphtha is dry-cleaning fluid. After cleaning the fretboard, follow it up with a sealer. PRS recommends a furniture polish, like Behold.

Oh, thanks for reminding me. I have switched from naptha to using the Dunlop 65 Ultimate Lemon Oil on the fretboard. They claim it cleans and moisturizes. Seems to have gotten the job done the couple times I've used it.

Geez, I'd forgotten my own cleaning and care methods. I guess it's telling of how often I clean.

+1 on the Virtuoso cleaner and polish. Makes my nitro SCTrem satin neck smooth as butter.
I believe the PTC actually recommends furniture polish (rumor has it, Pledge).

Thanks for response! Good to know. Thanks again. Barry"O"
