Nile Rodgers - Bio

Ooh, a full hour long BBC Bio! I can't wait to watch this tonight, thanks Shawn!

I couldn't resist clicking on it.. just for a few seconds.

When Debbie and Chris (Blondie) mentioned "Good times" as being the basis for all Hip hop, well I couldn't agree more. I started doing more electronic and hip hop music when I got burned out on guitar fifteen years ago. I still work for other bands and artists, but I am also working on a solo project (hip hop), and I can't believe that I am playing guitar on every single song so far!

Bernie and Nile were/are so much more than Disco!

The list of songs Nile played on/co-wrote is simply amazing. Even if you think you don't like his music, watch the movie, it will change your mind.

Truth.

He's like Steve Lukather or Ray Parker Jr. in that regard, those guys WERE popular music for twenty years.

I was in high school when C'est Chic was released. Back then, music was divided along racial lines. Yet, it did not seem strange to find a copy of C'est Chic in a music collection that contained albums such as Aqua Lung, Toys in the Attic, Cat Scratch Fever, Dreamboat Annie, and almost the entire Led Zeppelin catalog.

Bernard Edwards and Larry Graham pretty much invented modern bass technique. While there were other good funk bassists, one can trace just about every enduring funky bass line back to Bernard or Larry. Bernard Edward's influence on Flea is as transparent as a pane of glass. Anyone who was at Experience last year experienced and felt Larry Graham's influence on bassists.

Just watched it, thanks Shawn I never knew that a lot of the funky jams I dig some from the same source.

Even my partners dad didn't know who he was, he dug it too!

Thanks again

INXS, Madonna, B-52's, Bowie, Jeff Beck, Mich Jagger, Duran Duran, Sister Sledge, Diana Ross, etc, etc. Nile played on over 2 Billion dollars worth of music sales. That is a phenomenal accomplishment.
