Thanks to JD at guitar Maverick for convincing me to take the plunge on an HXDA 30 2X12 combo. I wasn't sure about it at first. It took some time to find home, all the knobs do something, but now I have found a range of settings I like. It really is like having two different amps. I'll post some pics and settings soon and am looking forward to researching further how others are setting up their HXDA. I'm still not totally sold on the V30s. I typically don't like them very much, but they sound pretty good in this amp. I do prefer my extension cab with a Weber silver bell/Blue dog combo. I haven't popped open the hood to see the glass, but the stock tubes sound pretty good. I took a half day from work to have a loud afternoon to myself he he.

Sweet! props for playin' hooky from work too, I've been bad and actually going to work on NgearDs lately. You make me proud!

Congrats man! I'm glad you dig it!!

Also, I'm really figuring out how to dial in for the V30's for tones I likes. The Webers are tighter at lower volumes, but I can hear how the V30's come into their own as the MV is turned clockwise.

Is that a open back cab? I was very skeptical about the V30s too, but I play 'em every weekend now. Looks great!

That's a 2x12? Looks like my 1x12.

I swapped out the V30 for a Scumback m75, 65 watt speaker, as I wanted a more vintage sound, as well as a quieter speaker.

How noisy is your amp? I.e., with the master all the way up, and the volume at around noon (or louder), with the guitar volume all way up, but without playing anything...how much hum do you hear?

open back combo. They do sound good in this amp, but I still hear that (to me) typical loose boominess in the bass combined with the occasional piercing treble that I associate with V30's. They can stay for now, but I'll be thinking about what I might want in there instead. I usually find the Weber Ceramic Silver Bell cures all the issues I gots with V30's.

definitely a 2X12. I'm not sure the speakers contribute any noise? regarding the noise, I'm all in with 408's which can be a bit noisier than some other pickups IME in non hum-cancelling positions, so hard for me to say. I also recently moved and the AC circuits are noisier in this house with all my amps, I guess you could say I have learned to live with a bit of noise.

I'm pretty sure my house is pretty noisy with EMF interference. Because, no matter the guitar or amp, if I get up to decent volumes, the hum is VERY obvious. And if I'm in single coil mode, forget about it. I will stop playing. The hum is very sensitive to the direction I point my guitar, but even in the best spot, it's still annoying.

My Bogner Shiva is the only amp that sounds quiet, but if I turn up the presence all the way, it gets noisy too. I believe the BOgner, being a darker sounding amp, routes a lot of that hum/hiss to ground, where as the plexi-style circuit on this, puts it way more in your face.
