While not as breathtaking as some of the new machines posted on here lately, I picked up a jem. It's a used CE22 Black burst. She comes with Dragon 1 pickups, moons and winged tuners. This guitar also has 5 way rotary which I'm not so sure I will care for but the pickup combinations it offers are cool.

This guitar is heavy and I'm not sure why that is. I'm hoping this has an alder body but I haven't had time to check that out or even plug it in. The case appears to be a little different than my other prs cases. It's not as tight fitting around the body of the guitar but it looks like my others prs cases in every other way.

I don't have pics of this guitar to post so for some of you it simply didn't happen and that's ok

I did put new strings on, cleaned the fretboard and returned trem to floating position. Getting ready to set up amp downstairs so I'll know how it sounds after bit. FWIW I don't like the winged tuners and will most likely change them out. There are a few people on here that love them and may want them once I make the change.

Was also wondering how to decode serial number, it is 7-CE16128. Thanks in advance for any help.

1997 CE...keep the wings...they're awesome once you get them down. Possibly Alder...hopefully big fat honkin neck!! 16,128th CE built...I think?? Can you see the grain in the body??

I can only see the grain of the top not the body. Even has black paint in trem cavity. The neck feels fat which I just love and it's maple too. It has a different sound than my other prs guitars. I've heard others on here talk about how good the dragon 1s are, they do sound good.

I guess you call that a win win!!!!!

I don't know man, those winged tuners.....................

Cool guitar, and keep the wingies on, they're part of the vibe.

Congrats! 7 is the designation PRS started to use for serial numbers for CE's, so you've got a 2001 model I believe... Yeah wings suck, get rid of 'em as fast as possible. I know a guy who'll give you some SE tuners and $50 for them, he say's he recycles them into playground equipment for inner city youth.

Yep, you're right...I will! Feel free to hit me up. :vroam:

If it's a 2001 you can replace them with the Phase II tuners. I did it with a 2001 CU22.

Wings rule! I think in '97 they were still using the keys with the shared screw on the D and G, so replacing might be tricky. They really are easy to use, I promise.

I think it should be mahogany, which can vary a lot in weight, thus accounting for the heaviness.

According to http://prsguitars.com/csc/year.html, it would be a 1997:
