I really like the look of this guitar. What wood is the top?
D*mn that's nice. Gorgeous in front and the flame maple satin neck must feel as good as it looks.Custom 24 Wood Library, all satin with a killer neck
Hi, I really don't know. It does not say in the build sheet that has a cryptic text that says "WL 1019 CU24 Satin CC10Q" I have no idea what that means. Sorry. Maybe someone knows better?I really like the look of this guitar. What wood is the top?
The top is a single peice of figured maple. They are relatively rare among a rare selection of wood.Hi, I really don't know. It does not say in the build sheet that has a cryptic text that says "WL 1019 CU24 Satin CC10Q" I have no idea what that means. Sorry. Maybe someone knows better?
Ah, thanks a lot for your input and knowledge. Appreciate it.The top is a single peice of figured maple. They are relatively rare among a rare selection of wood.
The decode of the cryptic text as I understand it would be as follows:Hi, I really don't know. It does not say in the build sheet that has a cryptic text that says "WL 1019 CU24 Satin CC10Q" I have no idea what that means. Sorry. Maybe someone knows better?
Wow, htanks a lot. That really helped. For the "quilt", I agree, but what would you call it if not that? Is it some sort of "burl"? For the neck, it says "ST/FL MAP NECK FB 58/15"?The decode off the cryptic text as I understand it would be as follows:
WL (Wood Library)
1019 (Wood Library run number - dealers place WL runs and they are of 10 guitars at a time of same specs/build with 2 color variations - so 5 of each color)
CU24 (guitar model)
Satin (guitar finish)
CC10Q (guessing a bit on this one, but I would say "Custom Color" "10 top" and I wanna say "Quilt" but it is not really what I would call a quilted top)
Plenty of folk here who know a whole lot more than me, so some may correct this stuff ;~))
There is a gray area in terminology. I'd say it is closer to quilt than flame. You might call it fugured.Wow, htanks a lot. That helped a lot. For the "quilt", I agree, but what would you call it if not that? Is it some sort of "burl"? For the neck, it says "ST/FL MAP NECK FB 58/15"?
The neck is a Stained Flamed Maple, your guitar has 58/15 pickups.Wow, htanks a lot. That really helped. For the "quilt", I agree, but what would you call it if not that? Is it some sort of "burl"? For the neck, it says "ST/FL MAP NECK FB 58/15"?
It's definitely not burl. That would have pockets where the wood has "rotted" and may, or may not, have been filled.Wow, htanks a lot. That really helped. For the "quilt", I agree, but what would you call it if not that? Is it some sort of "burl"? For the neck, it says "ST/FL MAP NECK FB 58/15"?
The infamous triple buckshotIt's definitely not burl. That would have pockets where the wood has "rotted" and may, or may not, have been filled.
My take on the rest is:
ST/FL Map Neck - Stained Flamed Maple Neck
FB - Fat back - meaning the body is thicker than the normal Custom 24
58/15 - the model of the pick ups.
Here's an example of a burl top (photo from the PSF thread)
Ah yes, Fatback! Good call!! I was mulling over that for a while and came up with nothing ;~((It's definitely not burl. That would have pockets where the wood has "rotted" and may, or may not, have been filled.

I think it's still a quilted top, but the quilt bubbles that we normally associate with a quilted top are large. The bubbles on your guitar look elongated and skinny. That's what makes it so unique. That piece of wood must have been phenomenal. For the "quilt", I agree, but what would you call it if not that?
