Just ordered the S2 Singlecut in frost green from Andertons. Can't wait 'til Monday. Thanks for all your comments in my previous thread - you convinced me that I would be mad not to buy it at £799. I've had a Bernie for about two years now and it's become the only guitar I play at gigs - I just love it.

My main back-up guitar has been a Gibson Firebird Studio which is a great guitar (now up for sale) but I just love the way the Bernie plays so I wanted something of similar dimensions. The Firebird is a totally different playing experience and I prefer to have guitars that feel similar to one another. Most of you seem to think the S2 is a step up from the Bernie which must be amazing because the Bernie is just a great guitar. Thanks for your help in this decision - now I just have to explain to Madame Barquentine when she comes home from work.

Will this guitar be set up for 9 gauge strings ? If so, will I need to get the nut re-cut to accommodate 10's ? Also, locking tuners - I've never used them. How do they work ?

S2's are cut for 010's. no worries. The tuners are easy to use. no worries also.....

Locking tuners usually just have a method for locking the screw in place. Most tend to work extremely easy and I believe the S2 uses tuners that are very similar to Phase IIs. Once you see them, you'll figure it out quite quickly.

You should have done like me when I bought my SE Cu24 2 weeks ago. As I found one that was right for me I called the Miss to check if she was ok with me buying it... She was surprisingly taken a bit aback but didn't give me a straight no. So after some beating about the bush on her part I just said 'I am buying it'.

No problem at all. I had the nut re-cut but I haven't replaced anything other than the pickups.

Agree. Core nut and locking tuners ftw. The locking tuners aren't a necessity. I'm just lazy.
