Hi guys,

Just got a new (for me) Signature Limited in Charcoal Burst with hybrid hardware. I've replaced the white pickup rings with black and the switch tip with a gold one so now it looks black and gold as you can see. I think it looks awesome.

I've had a 408 for a while and it's been great, but the pickup blade switch bugged me as it always seemed to be in the way with the tremolo bar. So when I spotted this I couldn't help myself :p! So far it's been just better, the layout is more comfortable, it sounds better and looks awesome. I don't know what it is with the pickups and if there's something in the wood or anything that's different, and it seems that the split sound is a lot more pronounced with the Signature Limited compared to the 408.

Anyway, super stoked with my new guitar :p!

You have excellent taste in guitars Johan! Siggys rule. The necks on that limited run were made from very dense mahogany that PRS dubbed "sinker mahogany" because they joked it would sink if put in water. I think that neck contributes significantly to the tone of these.

Also, this was the first production run for the 408 pickups, so I am sure there was a little tweaking with them between these and the ones that made it into the regular 408 model.

I also prefer the toggle to the blade ergonomically. And I really dig the black pickup rings. Congratulations!

Wow that is one nice guitar, as Carl said, excellent taste!

The Siggy also has a 0.022uf cap (Sozo Mustard I believe) running from the volume pot to the switch, I'm not sure what effect that has (PRSh just says "it sounds sweeter") but it would be interesting to know what that is!

You can check out the schematics on the PRS support page to see what I'm talking about... :)

Beautiful! I had one exactly like it, but with cream rings. I thought it sounded fantastic.

That looks amazing! I had a 408 for awhile and really couldn't bond with the switching positions. A buddy of mine who bought one at the same time, his is actually a one off PS top w/ Sinker neck and Siggy switching. Makes me think someone wanted a slightly different Siggy without birds, but that's another story all together.

I've been watching a number of Siggys and really want to pick one up since I loved the tone of the 408 but just couldn't really get in love with the layout.

Thanks guys, and yeah, it's almost strange that they don't offer the Sig Limited layout anymore, at least as an option. I remember watching loads of 408 videos and in one Paul was saying that these pickups are a big part of our future, or something to that effect, and yet there's only the actual 408 model. Would seem that there would be room for a Sig Limited 408 and a SC408 as well?

Classy looking guitar! I dig the all-black pickups with gold and they hybrid bridge look.

There is the Brent Mason too... I think the way that they work is the big part of the future. I have no doubt these will be refined some day, possibly with what they learnt with the 85/15 ~ 58/15 pickups.

So that would be...Formula 409? :)

Doesn't Paul's Guitar also have some version of those pickups? That's at least 3 different models...I'd say that's significant. :)
