NGD - Private Stock 594 w/Pattern Neck

Sounds like a neck I need to experience by the sounds of things! Only just bought my 594 last week, sounds like i need to up my game to Private Stock 🤣

Virtually everyone who tries Pattern Vintage necks really likes them, so you aren't missing out.

Every Core or Private Stock 594 I've ever seen before had Pattern Vintage. This one was a one-off custom order from PRS and happened to be in my favorite neck shape.

Very nice, yeah I love the 594 in concept I just can not stand those necks. I am more of a pattern thin guy but can do pattern, Vintage is definate no from me. More of a 60's LP or the Asymmetrical slim taper is my preferred Les Paul. . I mean I get it some people love thick guitar necks, but I am not one.
Same here. Small hands. Why can't PRS offer all their neck profiles on all their production guitars? I would buy TODAY a 594 and Hollowbody II if they had wide thin necks. I will not pay $5-6k more for a private stock just to have a wide thin neck. Don't work for PRS, so I don't know, but maybe there's just too much production cost involved in making all neck shapes available.

24-08 is nearly always Pattern Thin and those guitars are amazing. New ones have the cool EQ switches like the Mclaughlin private stock had.

I think Pattern works pretty well with all hand sizes and that’s what’s on a HBII Piezo. Just not the HBII 594 which is pattern vintage

I have a CU24, CU22 and NF3. Sorry if I wasn't clear - those instruments like the 594 that are only available with bigger necks is was I was referring to.

Absolutely gorgeous! There’s not a thing I would change about it. I love my 594 and I’ve gotten used to the pattern vintage neck, but it’s a handful!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I honestly look at the guitar and can't believe it even exists, or that I was fortunate enough to be able to get it.

I have a problem, I've bought 2 more guitars since this one. A Dead Spec silver sky and a Special 22 Semi-Hollow Wood Library, so both of those are on their way to me.

I was down to 4 guitars and am back up to 7. Going to sell off my last Fender, so I'll get down to 6 and be all PRS.

Reading this comment and I am still having a hard time finding the "problem". You have more guitars now than you did. Is that not always a good thing?

Well, of course! I got up to 15+ guitars at one point and had way too much other gear so I decided to simplify down to 3 guitars and felt really good about it.

Of my current 7, I'm selling the Strat, 1 is sentimental and 1 is more of a collectible so if I do some mental gymnastics and apply a little denial, it's like I really only have 4 guitars. That doesn't sound as bad.

Great perspective @PaulReedSith. I have 2 string swings (holds 6 cases each) and 2 Hercules stands, so 14 is my magic number. I have guitar #15 in route now and have to go through all kinds of mental gymnastics to justify it. Of the 14 currently in the house, ~3 could go and I would not really miss them. The market is just so soft for used gear right now that I am not rushing to move them just yet. So using a similar logic, I really only have 12 guitars (including the one in route) because I have already mentally moved on from 3 (even if they are still in my house).

It is these types of conversations that cause my wife to roll her eyes and walk out of the room. In my head, it all makes sense

Agree. I like my 594, but the Vintage neck isn't it. Pattern or Pattern regular is where its at for me. I would love to try this guitar. I can't bond with LP's due to the neck, and I'm not going to sell my SC 594, but it would be one of the first to go if I had to. The Vintage neck isn't as bad as the tinner 60's LP neck, but it's not as good as Pattern. I walked away from a very good deal on a HB 594 2 years ago, due to the neck, which was oddly even thicker than mine. HB II Piezo was to be my "retirement" and last guitar but that didn't happen :( But that neck combo and that guitar seems to be a dream.

The SC245, SC58, Stripped 58 were all inspired by vintage bursts and have Pattern necks. To be honest, I think the knob orientation is superior to the 594 on these other models, but the 594 knobs are going to be easier for someone who's played a lot of Gibson to go back and forth. A volume knob rider is going to have a much better time with these than a 594... but a 594's knobs are superior to Gibsons by moving them up closer to your playing hand.

This is the 6th 594 that I have purchased in the pursuit of the perfect-for-me LP-style guitar. In fact, the first PRS I ever bought was a 594 around when they first came out.

I kept selling them from not being able to bond with the Pattern Vintage neck. For me, the sun rises and sets with the PRS Pattern neck profile (Thank you Paul!). My main guitar is a Pattern-necked PRS Hollowbody II Piezo in antique white that just leaves most everything else in the dust and has prompted me to sell off a lot of great guitars that didn't get played. I have a DGT wood library in antique white that covers a lot of ground, but I'm always keeping an eye out for the perfect vintage LP inspired guitar.

Previous 594's, all sold:
Core DC Black Gold Wrap
Core SC Purple P90
Core DC Violet
Core DC Antique White
Private Stock DC Koa

I was randomly browsing and happened upon a Private Stock 594 for sale that PRS had made for well known vintage guitar collector and shop owner, Dave Rogers. He and Paul have worked closely together for decades, so I knew that any guitar made specifically for him by PRS would be something special. I also knew that Dave is a vintage guy, so I wasn't concerned to see him selling a newer guitar that didn't work out for him - you can't keep them all and many of those vintage dudes haven't seen the light ;). But the most important thing... It had a Pattern neck on a 594!

2024 McCarty 594 Private Stock Specs:
Neck Carve: PATTERN on a 594!!!
Color: McCarty Glow
Finish: High gloss nitro Neck: Marine finish
Fingerboard Wood: Nicaraguan Rosewood w/Ivoroid binding
Neck Wood: Mahogany
Back Wood: African Mahogany
Side Dots and Inlays: Green Ripple Abalone (solid birds)
Bone Nut
Pickups: 58/15LT TCI
Electronics: 2 vol, 2 tone, toggle
Weight: 7.8

Everything about this guitar is perfect for me, as if I had ordered it myself. There is nothing I would change. The "marine" finish neck has a raw wood feel to it that is super comfortable, the outrageously perfect top in McCarty glow is stunning and it is my ideal weight for this style of guitar. I really like the Nicaraguan Rosewood fingerboard and I love the green abalone. Though I typically don't prefer bound fingerboards, this one is done so well and the binding is not too thick so I love it. I'm a huge fan of the latest tuners and pickups which this has, being a 2024. (I did a Pepsi challenge with new TCI vs non-TCI of the same pickup model and I definitely preferred TCIs)

10/10 for me. I still prefer 25" scale of my HBII Piezo for my main guitar, but for a LP-inspired guitar to have on hand, I cannot imagine a better instrument than this 594. I've owned Gil Yarons, vintage G, G's best effort newer CS models including a Brazilian R9, Nik Hubers, etc. and this one does the things with better playability and feel than any of them.

And look at that top! It's never going anywhere :)

Man that thing is absolutely gorgeous, congrats on it and also the Dead Spec and semi-hollow I see you've acquired since! I had to do a double-take at your profile pic haha. I just joined a few weeks ago after I picked up an HBII Piezo in Antique White (w Pattern Neck), and it's the best guitar I've ever played, let alone been fortunate enough to own. It's also my first Core PRS, I caught the bug after I traded a Les Paul for a Silver Sky a few years back, and I can only hope to one day find myself a collection like the one you've put together!

My main guitar is literally a HB II Piezo in antique white, natural back, pattern neck! Love the guitar beyond words. “If you could have only 1” - this would be the guitar. This antique white/natural back thing is amazing to me, I also picked up a DGT wood library in the same white/natural color scheme and truly love it. I briefly tried a white 594 natural back but the neck didn’t work for me, like the other 594’s I had tried.

I got this 594 purely because of the patten neck and it did not disappoint. I now have the ultimate LP style guitar with the ultimate neck on it, very happy.

FYI, I changed my username from SonicBlue to this current one on a whim… I’m changing it back or to something less sinister as soon as the 30 day timer runs out, lol.
