Well, I just received this guy a few days ago and I'm pretty excited. I lusted over this thing when it was new about 3 years ago. It ended up bouncing to my good man Mark who was willing to part with it. I almost chickened out on the deal, but I'm glad I stuck with it and Mark being the awesome guy he is was willing to be patient. I've always wanted a guitar with a Pernambuco neck, but never got the opportunity. Specs are pretty close to what I would order for a guitar like this, but I would never request inlays made of actual gold. I feel a little pompous that this guitar has them, but that's the way the dealer ordered it .
Quick spec run down: Private Stock SC58, Sandstorm Fade, Pernambuco neck, Brazilian board, gold MOP birds with 10 karat gold outlines.
Tone report: I've played a few perny necked guitars at the shop close by and I've always dug the way they sound. It's difficult to describe, but it's almost like a cross of maple and mahogany. The sustain is ridiculous. Even when played clean it just rings forever. This guitar is no different, but it's hard to give a real tone report in the limited time I've spent with it.
Spec sheet:
Some terrible pics for now, will get better ones tomorrow.
With its partner in crime.
