Not near as long a wait as my last couple buys, but it still seemed like forever. Now, I really couldn't sit down and play thanks to my cyst procedure this morning, but I just had to plug it in and take her for a short dance...even though I really should have waited 'til tomorrow. Just something about putting the strap on and well, you know how it is haha. Slightly different feel than my old Custom 24, but that may also be due to me being extra timid because of my fretting hand being a tad wonky from all the needle pokes. The Doc couldn't use as much freezing in the area because he didn't want to do any damage to the tendon, so it hurt like Hell more than a few times.
Definitely see a big difference in the pickups, much brighter and more edgy than the ones on the old Custom. Definitely like the dual mini toggles for tapping the coils individually. Will know more about them tomorrow if my fingers aren't too sore. And then I'll play it for a bit and see if I want any further little adjustments made to it in a couple weeks. I'll be playing chauffeur for the missus back into the city more than once after her surgery so that will be easy enough to fit in.
Visually it's typical of what I expected of the quilt to be, just a slight lack of definition in part of it, but certainly not any reason to throw it back IMO. My phone is pretty crappy compared to what's out there now, so the pics don't really do it justice. Much more pleasing to the eye than my Sapphire Blue one was. And it was actually pretty good.;)

Thanks guys.
I had hoped to be able to really get into it today, but my hand is a lot stiffer than I expected. Will have to see what shapes up as the day goes on...

Managed to get some more time in with it yesterday. Maybe it's because it's new, (and of course my hand is still a bit stiff and sore) but it has a more defined feel when fretting and running up and down the board. I think it's mostly the newness, as I found much the same thing the first couple days with my NF3. My Hollowbody was a whole different animal from the Custom 24, being a stoptail and 22 frets, which is completely understandable I think. My McCarty was used and other than the different neck it fretted very smoothly and I had very little trouble with adjusting to the differences, and I was a bit used to playing that guitar already.
But yesterday I got the chance to explore the variances in tones and get more into the tasty characteristics of the pickups and settings. Huge difference from the Custom 24 that way, as it should be. I'm gonna really enjoy this guitar, it's exactly what I'd hoped it would be as a step up from the Custom.
I'm not one of those guys that can sit on a box or stool in a store and play around incessantly while the guys huddle at the counter wondering "how long is this guy gonna take to make up his mind fer Gawd sake?" I exaggerate that point a bit but I think you get my drift. It doesn't take me very long at all to see if the (electric) guitar is going to work for me or not. With an acoustic, it's different, usually it's in a closed room with maybe one or two other players and each are kind of doing their own thing kind of quietly and not really cutting loose on it.

OK, I put all my fiddles on the rack and here's the current family. Could use another acoustic I think. I miss my plain old dreadnought FG. I think I need another rack.... 🤔
Gotta cool it on the guitar expenditures though, race season is coming fast. Tires (lotsa tires), transponder and air vest subscriptions, Should get a new tail section and a better race (butt) pad, braided lines would be nice, boots should make another season. Need to lose some weight or the suit won't fit the air vest if it deploys...I know, don't crash and it won't deploy.😂
