Well, technically it's not quite NGD yet, I'm picking it up on Tuesday. Here's a photo from the dealer:

I guess this is as good a time as any to introduce myself as well, I've been reading lots on the forum but this is my first post.

I've recently got back into playing guitar after a ten years of too much work and not enough play. I started my re-discovery with a Gibson Les Paul Standard and then got introduced to PRS by a friend, I'm sure nobody here is surprised to hear that I fell completely in love with PRS, the quality and feel is just amazing! I bought a used Custom 22 but didn't bond properly with it, the neck was a Pattern Thin (too thin for me) and the pickups HFS/VB (I prefer more PAF style). So I then got a Custom 24 with pattern regular and 59/09, love it! Have been trying to sell my 22 but not getting much response so when I saw the MEQ it was a great opportunity to do a trade in.

I'm hoping that the 53/10's will complement my 24's 59/09's well, a bit warmer sound is what I gather. (haven't ever played 53/10's so time will tell)

Here are my current three guitars:

You covered all the basic tones with this awesome trio and come TuesdayYou'll have a quartet to be reckoned with Congrats and welcome.

Your story is similar to mine. Just started back playing after about fifteen years and I also recently acquired an MEQ. So congrats! I hope you like yours as much as I like mine, she's a beauty!

Awesome collection, and congrats on the newest acquisitions!!!!

Just curious, is that an SRV Signature Strat?

Thanks!! Yeah it's the SRV, I've always been a huge fan and it was the obvious choice for my first electric guitar.

Nice! Enjoy those 53/10's and... rosewood neck. You're in for a surprise!

Looks damn near perfect. Like many have said, the 53/10's are magic. Let us hear about it once you two have gotten acquainted.

That is an EXCELLENT burst on the Quattro. Nice pickup! I'd love a tone report as I've never heard the 53/10s.

Thanks, I'm really glad to hear that -I'm not experienced enough with Prs to judge the relative quality of the burst. Does look great though :)

I'll post pictures once I've collected and a tone report as well comparing to the 24 and Les Paul.

Well to put a finer point on it, I definitely wouldn't characterize the 53/10's as being warmer than the '09's. The 10's are chimey, clear, and quite close to a more vintage tonality, while the 09's have always seemed the warmer of the two IMO. For anything other than metal perhaps (not that I ever play it), I greatly prefer the 10's for their clarity throughout the range which even comes through when driven, and they do indeed still sound great with everything maxed out.
