Well, you can also see it over on the McCarty 594 Love Thread, but this guitar is cool enough that I thought I should give it its own NGD thread.

February Guitar of the Month with the 20th Anniversary of Private Stock GOM series this year, 1 of 26 that will be made.

Nice case just for this GOM run, "British Fawn", like they did on some of the special Amp runs:

It is a beautiful guitar. The finish is incredibly well done, "Vintage McCarty Burst" - it is darker than the Faded McCarty Burst from the MSC run, I discussed that with Paul Miles earlier this week while at the Private Stock Vault. IMO it looks much better in person, the flame and finish is "bolder" in real life than it looks in these pics, actually best captured in the first two below here:

I am very picky with my PS selections, I am insistent upon Old Birds with Outlines, and Maple Binding on the neck that covers all 3 sides of the Board, not just two. To my great pleasure, this one has both, so it can be a long-term keeper! ;) Birds are MOP with Paua outlines, coincidentally identical to my Jade Glow DC 245 and just as beautiful.

The binding has yellow "toner" (as Paul Miles calls it) just like the MSC's, which helps a lot to give it that vintage vibe:

Has a banner on the Headstock highlighting it is the February GOM, which is cool! And says 1 of 26 on the back. (This is not #1, they all say 1 of 26...)

Awesome guitar! I am very happy with it.

For more ongoing reports on this one (tone reports, etc.), and others from the run as they arrive with their new owners, please follow my thread "The Official McCarty 594 Love Thread"! Also covered over there is my journey with short-scale PRSi from the Ted McCarty run in 2009 to present, it has been a fun ride! :)

Simply amazing. Sometimes I browse the forum without logging in, but you've forced me to log in in order to give you a round of applause.
PLEASE do a video (or sound clip).

Pete, PRS knocked it out of the park once again, you picked up a fantastic one, and I gotta say, this one appeals to what I love in a guitar in a huge way!

On the PRS page for the model, there's a little Periscope video of John Mayer playing one, and not to take anything away from the official factory demo with Brian Ewald that I also like an awful lot, Mayer does his thing with the guitar and makes it doubly appealing musically (for me).

First, the fact it's more or less based on the McCarty, that I think is one of PRS' best sounding models ever, then add in low wind pickups, the four control knobs, the switch placement, and the nitro finish, and the neck, and I am seriously hooked.

Reel me in, PRS.

Congrats, Pete!! PRS nailed it with this one. Really happy for you, and really Jonesin for one of these now!! I love this new bridge material, and I'm very curious how it affects the tone. That case is just perfect with this series.

Enjoy!!
Kevin

Pete, that is one for the books there...I could probably get used to the bout toggle if I was forced to ;)

Seriously stunning instrument - congratulations!

Yes, I haven't really mentioned that, but it really contributes a lot to the vintage look of the guitar. That material looks really good in real life!

Thanks! I think I am used to it already. :)

It looks like something you might have specced for yourself.

I know, it totally does!! That really pleases me. With the MSC, the binding was only 2 sides of the board versus 3, and the birds were Mammoth Ivory with no Outlines. So I spec'ed my own and later sold the two "Stock" ones from the run, partially because of that.

With this one, the spec is so dead-on to what I love, that I feel like this one is a keeper as-is! ;)

I told Paul S, Paul Miles and Tina this week at the factory that I felt like they created this guitar just for me, that is what it feels like, which is totally awesome...

Les:

Agree that John Mayer's demo of this on the periscope video was killer! I was loving the clean blues tones he was getting, and he was totally showing off the very broad set of tones this guitar can get with these Vintage PAF style pickups, the 2 volume 2 tone configuration, and the split tones.

That video was part of what made me plunk down my deposit the week these were announced! :)

I smell a delivery in the offing!

Word, Pete, word! Looks great but how does it sound?

Glad you're back in acquisition mode!

Thanks for the gallery images! It looks great. Any soundclips you can provide?

I smell a delivery in the offing!

Eventually, yes. But stuff needs to be done first.

Surgery to correct the nerve damage in my fretting hand will put me out of commission for a while, for starters...

Daughter's wedding this summer...

Life often intrudes on my schemes and plans. ;)
