I was intrigued when this 594 showed up at C&M and noticed it didn't have the usual plastic binding on the fingerboard. The tone assessment checked out, I had to order it.

This one was built for Experience so could have been a one off without binding.

I actually got it couple weeks ago right when I was learning how to use my mini CNC... so of course I had to make 594 backplates and a TRC with it and stained them along with tuner buttons.
And yes that means I am now willing to make backplates for anyone interested; when I was still doing backplates with a router the process was so time consuming and painful that I only made them for my own guitars (with very rare exceptions).

Color-wise there was no way to get as vivid of a green as the top for those backplates since the wood used was on the darker side.
For the TRC and tuners though that was no problem but it's still very tricky to precisely match the color of the top, hence the slight fade pattern on those parts.
I'm still not sure about the TRC, I might go with a 1 piece one on that one.

Enjoy!

Thanks ! The lack of binding was a big plus for me in this case: I could roll the fingerboard edges aggressively if I decided to.

How does it sound with the Rosewood neck compared to your experience with the Mahogany neck?

It is beautiful btw!

Wow!

And I must say, you're a freakin' MASTER with those buttons and backplates! My goodness!

Thanks ! Staining is always fun, and always takes way more time than anticipated.

And the mini CNC I got has made making backplates almost enjoyable. It took me a while to revise/iterate over the tracing/programming to get it to match exactly the plastic backplates but it was well worth the time. It's cool when you can just drop in the plates and everything fits perfectly.

I also angled the backplates so the curly maple would have a similar reverse chevron orientation as the top just for fun (well... that and a very slight OCD).
For some reason the color of the buttons/TRC looks more off on the pics than in person, the backplates are definitely less vivid.

This one has really nice sustain and resonance. I'm told however that it's a fair bit random as far as mahogany necks vs RW necks so best to assume other RW ones would be similar. Heck the Paul's 85 I briefly owned was all mahogany and blew my away like no other guitar ever did.

The rosewood neck on this one feels 'slim' compared to other Pattern Vintage but that's always been my experience with most unfinished RW necks or UV-finished satin maple necks compared to their gloss finish counterparts.
