Well, I did it! Following up on my earlier thread,

Here she is! Essentially beautiful condition. A bit of rash on the trem backplate, and a nic in the finish on the neck that has caused a little spot of clouding. The trem angle clearly shows the need for a set up.

Due to some family issues, I haven’t had a chance to play it yet save for picking each note when I checked it out pre purchase.

Any suggestions on addressing the little nic in the neck are appreciated. Also, I’m moderately comfortable with fixing the setup, but I’ll take any pointers anyone wants to throw out there.

Awesome!

Thanks all! Leave the chip alone - check. It’s not particularly noticeable. As for set up, here’s my thoughts:
1) loosen strings, get the springs such that the trem is closer to parallel with the strings.
2) Adjust truss rod to appropriate relief, repeat 1 above.
3) Set string height at bridge if needed. Recheck truss rod
4) put on new strings (fresh pack but kinda old - any issue?)
5) recheck 1, 2 and 3.
6) check intonation

Somewhere in there, check frets and oil the fretboard.

She sure is purty. The case is all but immaculate. Can’t wait to get her set up to play.

Disconnect the trem springs so that you don’t ruin the knife edges on the bridge plate. If that gets screwed up, you can’t fix it. And rock that bad boy. Oh, and I call dibs.
You mean disconnect them now until I get the set up sorted?

I’ll look it over much closer when I can. I may disassemble, look long and hard at the trem plate holes and the screws. Worse case is I give John Mann a call for help and parts. I’m hoping all is good, I think this was bought by a collector, stored, and sold to a bass player. Then to me. I hope no one did dumb stuff to it…

Dibs. I’m hoping I bond with this one and it stays until I can’t play anymore, it’s really a beauty to me.
