NGD yesterday, a wicked killer 24 fret SC 245 Private Stock! Spec'ed by Eric at Willcutt's, and built in August of 2015. Eric and I have a lot of similar tastes in Private Stock selections. He has built 5 specifically with and for me, including my 3 lifetime keepers in my current collection.

This one is right up my alley, an SC 245 with 24 frets, an incredible one piece quilt top, beautiful Black Cherry Glow finish. Also some really interesting stuff I probably wouldn't have thought to spec, such as 24 frets, a Cocobolo neck, and a Swamp Ash Body.

I wasn't sure I would like the geometry and feel of 24 frets with the short scale and on an SC, but WOW, I really dig it!!

The Cocobolo neck, Swamp Ash Body and 58/15's combine to create a tone that is more modern than my other 3 "LP-formula" SC Ted's with Mahogany Necks and bodies (well, except for the one DC that has an Obeche body). So in that regard it fits in nicely in the harem, and the Modern looks go hand-in-hand with the Modern tone!

Thanks, Eric, and the PS Team!! Great spec and great guitar.

P.S. Big week this week for me, also sold my Friedman SS-100 Head, and got a Friedman PT-20 Head and a Black Paisley Archon 25 Combo, both are great, and a Boss DD-500 Delay. It is like Christmas here this weekend!

congrats, Pete. I thought about getting that guitar before buying the PRS SC245 PS 2542 instead.

Nice! Dibs!
Damn...someone beat me to it. OK..."second in line". ;-)

Killer Guitar Pete...it caught my eye when if first came in but I really wasn't sure how 24 frets would feel in a 24.5 scale. How noticeable is it and does it feel "cramped" at all??

Thanks guys, appreciate the kind comments!

Very nice! While I am assuming that does not push something ELSE out the door.....;)

Nope, nothing else going out the door. I sold my Aquamarine/Aquaviolet 408-equipped DC 245 mid-last year, and felt that needed a replacement. Wait, I still need something with 408's, hmm... ;)

Well, yes, but no more so than a 22 fret 245 IMO. What I mean by that is I don't feel than need to go all the way up to the 24th fret, I just like that everything I would normally play is easier to get to, for instance the Blues box in the key of A in the 17th-19th fret range. To me this has the geometric feel of the good of an SG, Custom 24, SC 245 kind of wrapped into one. Also good for Sabbath riffing that gets you up into the 12th to 14th fret range, without the neck heaviness of an SG...

Now I am tempted to build a 24 Fret DC 245! :)

Pete - that is gorgeous, love the top & the red birds, and the swampy back looks killer too. Congrats on her and all the ampage!

Wins:

1. Beauty Contest
2. Originality Competition
3. Best Color Combination Front/Back/Birds

We now officially need clips - I want to hear what that baby sounds like with 24 frets!!

Really, really great guit-fiddle there, my friend! Awesomeness.
