Have you heard, "I just couldn't help myself."?

Today I picked up my S2 Satin Standard Custom 22 in McCarty Tobacco Burst from my local dealer (not GC). Could not pass up the price. But, here's the story. I just saw him last week Saturday and we got to talking as he had increased his inventory but did not have any satins in. When I told him what I was looking for, he offered to get one in for me to check out. Heck, I was already 90% ready to pull the trigger, but I said Sure. So yesterday he emails me that it came in and did I want him to hold it for me or put it out on the floor. Hahaha. I emailed back immediately and told him I would be up there ASAP. Got there this morning and he looked surprised and said he didn't expect to see me for a week or two.

Ha! He had told me he would put it in the back room still in the case. He did let a couple of other customers look at it, but not play it. And that was true because it was not in tune which I figured that was due to the climate change. Now the good part:

That is the born on date! Assembled on 11/16, ordered on 11/21, and mine out the door. 12 days! Hoochie Mama, I had a real good ride home. Oh yes, I didn't mention that I live 40 miles away, not that it has any bearing. And this was corroborated by a sticker on the outside of the gig bag:

I know you've all seen pics on the website, but here's the best I could do for now under bedroom lighting.

Terry told me that everyone who looked at it was very complimentary of the way it looked. And it feels great. The satin neck is so very close to the feel of my Paul's brazzy neck, it's uncanny. And now, I will stop gushing because it's time to hook it up and listen to those #7's. The only mod I intend to do to this baby is a black trem tip.

Straight to the bedroom? Not wasting any time, eh??? :congrats:

Congrats! That burst looks classy w/the pickguard.

Awesome score! That is a true rock n roll guitar. Everything about it says hangin' out with the crew, throwin' down some jams, or even chillin' in the living room or decimating a live audience. Definitely got my eyes on that!

Nice one!!! Not helping me resist getting one for myself though...

Sorry, but nobody helped me. But you NEED one of these. Heh.

After a little bedroom time, I must say this thing holds a tone and I can feel the body just sympathizing with the strings. Bet if I stood in front of the amp it would sustain pretty good especially cranking up some volume. Its like it is straining at the leash just waiting for its chance to bust loose. I think those pickups haven't gotten the attention they deserve. And all this with the stock 9's. I know I said the only mod would be a trem tip, but since 10's grace the others... And speaking of the trem, it goes right back on pitch, no sweat. And feels great while palm muting.

One other nice thing about this finish is that my right arm and elbow just glide over the surface like if I had baby powder to reduce friction.

The honeymoon ain't over.

Looks really nice man! I saw one of these hanging kinda on the wall at GC. Wanted to play it but didn't wanna bother anyone to take it down since I couldn't buy. Bet it would've ripped thru that Bogner Helios they had in the used section. I love standards and satin. Bet yours is stellar sounding.

Thanks everybody for the kind words. After reading a bit more about it, I get the impression that the S2 #7's are different from the ones that came before. Is it my imagination? The hang tag says they are custom wound for the push/pull.

About the string gauge, I just assumed 9's, don't know exactly why. But found out on the hang tag that they are actually 10's.

I do really think that it has a great tone, though. Certainly different from the others which is not surprising at all, but really, really cool. Coil tapping does not drop the volume like my first SE did with the HFS/VB's. Put a little gain on and it can get as gritty as you could want. I like to run some reverb, though, and the Blackstar has two different reverbs. The dark one really gives you some haunting tones. Got to play with that some more.

Congrats on a lovely score, I do like this scratch plate more than the one
on the single cut, enjoy rockin'

Can't imagine anything better for the coin. That is really sweet! Congrats!!!
