Been on a serious search for the last year or so, finally found what I was looking for. FedEx delivered yesterday and I'm lovin' it! First experience with the 5-way switch...so far I like it. Advanced apologies to Sergio...it's blue.

According to the pickup cavity info, this one was made by Dave in March of 1991; has a wide/thin neck with a rosewood fretboard(Brazilian?:iamconfused:). You can see some of the original color under the pickup rings. It is fading nicely...maybe I should leave it with some sun exposure for a while?

Here she is hang in' with my 408

Also my first experience with the winged tuners...got 5 out of 6 restrung but can't get the G-string to catch.(There's the set-up for you guys...let's hear what ya got...) Will play it for a week or so then probably let the PTC do a set up and dress the frets.

Nice score! I was gonna guess Matteo Blue until I saw the small signature. I haven't seen Royal Blue with scraped binding and amber knobs before.

Wings should be easy as can be (in theory). Just hold your G string taut while you twist the knob (Wait, what?) until it grips and tune to pitch. I suppose the mechanism could be worn out though, and maybe that's why it isn't catching.

Congrats! Glad you finally found the one you were lookin' for!

Your fretboard is indian rosewood as all production CE's with rosewood fingerboards are. I think you should fade that sucker!!! I've seen some really sharp lookin' faded Whale blue PRS... they can almost look grey and natural.

That's a really nice top. Too bad your G-string won't stay on. (Said no-one ever -- there ya go.)

Dang, I keep hoping my '91-92 (16th birthday present) will show up on a thread so I can pay a ransom to get it back. Alas. Congrats!

That is a super-cool top on an undoubtedly monster CE. The royal blue looks surprisingly unfaded. Hope you get the tuners sorted out - I had issues with the ones on my 97 awhile back, G kept slipping and then one day she caught...so needless to say I didn't change the strings after that ;) might need to swap one out...

I love CE24s.

I doubt I'll ever get discovered and signed but if I do, I'm going to get a CE24 signature lol.

Take the collar off of the peg & examine it. Either the post, collar, or both are likely to be galled. That can be fixed with a light polishing compound, a dremel, & a felt bob that is small enough to fit inside the hole in the collar. It is possible that the galling is too bad to repair, but highly unlikely. Also, I believe Jon Mann is now selling replacement tuners..........

Nice score!!! I am head over heels for both of my CEs. I haven't gigged my customs for months! I seem to really like the maple necks.

Thanks Markie...I finally got it to catch after about 100 tries. I will definitely remember this next string change!

Great guitar! I have a red 2008 CE24 that I will never part with.... but it has been even more enjoyable after swapping the rotary for 3-way switch and push/pull tone pot. Can sound very stratty or gritty depending on settings. And I love the VB/HFS pup combo with coil splits. Most versatile guitar I own.
