NGD: EVH flavored PRS CU22 / Blue Matteo Quilt Top

This is my first Quilt Top PRS (I've owned over 20 PRSi)! This is a 2006 CU22 in Blue Matteo 10-Top with Birds in fantastic shape! I usually do not favor Quilt Tops but this one was not over the top and just right. Plus, this Blue Matteo is my favorite PRS blue.

The previous owner replaced the Dragon II (good thing, though I do have a pair) with a pair of EVH pick ups. I bought it with the intentions of replacing them with 57/08s or 59/09s, but when I brought it home and plugged it in my ears just perked up with a "wow!" The tone from these pickups are stellar! The treble tones, especially just bloom with such clarity and presence with no harshness whatsoever. The bass notes are warm with excellent definition and the mid tones really balance both the bass and treble tones - really fantastic sounding pickups! So, they are staying put! Plus, the pots are Bounes Low friction.

Very nice top on that one. Are they the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop (EVH) 78s? I just put one in the bridge of my H-H strat and it's fantastic. I've actually got it paired with a Dragon II in the neck position and they really complement each other well.

I've been told that this is a EVH brand pickups, but don't know which model. I'm too lazy to open it up. Yes, this has a fantastic top - very mesmerizing ~~~

Good choice to replace the Dragon II bridge pups!

I always kinda liked the EVH pickups from the first few guitars(from what I recall). Haven't played any of the newer ones, but those probably are nice sounding as well.

If this didn't come with it I'd have never consider these pickups. I compared it to my RP pickups on my NOS ME I and I like the EVH better! Hmmm . . . . I wonder how EVH would sound in my ME I? Blasphemy?
