Ngd disappointment

I bought a smokeburst McCarty off of ebay. The seller stated that the only damage to the guitar was one small knick at the bottom of the body. No big deal. The guitar arrived today. I took it out of the case and started playing. The E string had some buzz at the first fret. Again, no big deal.

I took off the trussrod cover to make the adjustment and that's when I find the finish along the length of the nut has been chipped away. Someone had added a slope to the nut, probably trying to help tuning stability and didn't score along the nut first. At least that's what I assume happened.

I messaged the seller about my findings. At this point I'm not sure what I should do. It's definitely going to affect resale value if I ever want to sell or trade it. What should I do?

The seller might say you've done it , not worth the aggro, you probably got it cheap on Ebay anyway, so just fix it, and go and make music!
