I love this guitar and the charcoal quilt! You wouldn't expect from the photos, but there are brown streaks from the wood grain that show up at various spots throughout the guitar. Everytime I look at it, I see something new. It almost looks 3D.

The best way I can describe the 57/08's are that they are warm, fat, but not muddy at all. Harmonic overtones jump out all over the place with these pickups, they really do have a great, complex tone. They clean up nice, and respond drastically do tone/volume adjustments. They could be a little hotter for my taste though, pinch harmonics take a little more work and they don't jump off the strings like they do with hotter pickups (I'm used to Dragon I's that are in my CE24 I'm trying to sell). I'd LOVE to give the 59/09's a shot, but I we'll see if they're hot enough. I currently have some Tremonti's that I want to drop in because I like hotter pickups, but now that I've heard the 57/08's first hand, I'm not sure I'm going to like the Tremonti's because I expect to lose those overtones. If I lose the overtones with the Tremonti's, I might sell everything and buy 59/09's.

The only bad thing is that it arrived with a small scuff on the front of the headstock... my fingernail doesn't catch it - so it might buff out. Do you guys have any suggestions??? See the last photo.

I love that quilt....almost seems a bit under-stated and subtle. While I dig big, highly-figured, Private Stock quilts, I have really come to appreciate the more simple tops. It really looks great with that charcoal finish, too. Congrats!!!!

I didn't want to look at the pics, yes that's the honest truth. Cu24 ,want bad and love charcoal.....I was sure not disappointed, it's probably one of the nicest I've seen.

Thanks man! IMO, this should be a 10 top, but the quilt pattern probably isn't up to their standards for 10 tops. I don't care though, because I love it.

Crazy turn of events that led me to getting this guitar... long story short - GC owed me, and gave me a huge discount - I have no bad words to say about the guys that I worked with. Once I realized how much of a discount they were giving, a new CU24 became within my price range. Once I thought it through, this was the only CU24 that wasn't a 10 top that I couldn't get out of my head. I had to have it!

Thanks! Your description is pretty much exactly what I was thinking when I first saw it. The more I looked at it, the more it grew on me. And in person, it has even more character - the photos don't do it justice. I'm not a fan of plain tops, and I don't like huge pillowy quilts, or zebra striped flame tops - This top is almost a mix between quilt and flame. It's the unique top I've always hoped I'd find!

This guitar is 'the one'. I probably will never buy another brand new PRS - I'm speaking from my wallet (and for my wife), lol.

I couldn't agree with you more!!! In the end, it's more about what speaks to you as an individual. I've seen many SE's with phenomenal tops, as well....so the number "10" is kind of subjective, really. My two ended up being 10 tops, but it wasn't necessarily a must for me. I was just looking for what really pleased my eye. Again, well done, sir....you definitely scored on that one.

I'm a sucker for blue colored PRS guitar and the charcoal is my second choice
But this one ? DAAAAAANG BRO
Awesome color on a killer top.....
congrats,enjoy her to the max:beer:

That guitar looks really great but is that actually graded as a quilt? Just wondering if anyone knows what criteria determines the "quilt" designation.
