I got this a week ago but just got around to taking pics today.
After nearly 40 years of playing I finally decided on the guitar that is right for me.
My trusty old 1995 PRS CE24 is it. It does everything I want and does it well. I sold off some other guitars I had and started shopping for a backup to the CE24. I wanted to get as close as possible while still being a little different.
I found a 1996 Vintage Yellow CE22 body and neck on Ebay for a great price and bought them. I had most of the other parts already to finish it up.
Here's the list of what she's got. Other than the pickups, the electronics are exactly the same as my CE24.
Planet Waves locking tuners, PRS nut, McCarty pups, new style PRS ivory pup rings, Graph Tech Ghost piezo system, dual output jacks, individual push/pull pots to split the coils, relocated Switchcraft 3 way toggle, amber lampshade knobs.
The controls are master vol/bridge split - 3 way toggle - master tone/neck split - piezo volume.
I don't use an onboard switch for the piezo. I do all that with the Axe FX and MIDI controller.
The body was in great shape. The neck was good other than some pretty serious fret wear. I leveled the frets and now have it playing wonderfully. Pretty nice for $700.
My CE24 has Tonerider Generator pups (sound a lot like Dragon I's) and I put a set of those in the CE22 also but they just did not sound as good. I popped in the McCarty's and liked what I heard. So they will stay for now.
So now I have two nearly identical guitars with trems and a piezo. The differences are W/T neck on the CE24, W/F neck on the CE22, and the CE24 has a hotter set of pups.
These are a perfect pair for gigging. They cover all the ground I need.
