Howdy! This is my first post here! I just got this guitar in a trade, and the first thing I did was upgrade the pickups from the 85/15S stock ones to 59/09 pickups. I really dislike the 85/15S G&B pickups. I've had two guitars with them and they just sound so flat and weak to me. Really enjoy the new pickups though...

This 35th anniversary had the 24-08 style pickup splitting controls, so it's a bit unusual. I usually do pickup swaps myself, but the control cavity in this one was way over my head, so I had a local tech do it, and he did a great job.

FYI, the orientation of your bass pickup may misalign with how PRS would do it from the factory. With the 58/15 or 85/15 They would have the screw coils next to the neck. It may not have always been that way though. If you love your tone as-is, carry on. If something ever bugs you about the split sound, could be a future opportunity.

This pretty much has 24-08 wiring now, and they invert the orientation of the bass pickup on that guitar. It's basically an early release 24-08 that was being sold as a Custom 24 for the 35th Anniversary. :)

I may be misunderstanding your points though. :p

Welcome and congrats! Sweet trade. I'm with you on the 8515S, putting it nicely they are the very definition of meh and blah. They are what finally drove me to get a core. The 5909 was the right choice. They absolutely kill in a Cu24. Perfect. Enjoy!
