New Guitar Day and my first Paul Reed Smith guitar.

This is a 2008 PRS Singlecut Hollowbody with the Artist package. I will email PRS with the serial number to get the exact specs. My understanding is that the 2008 Artist package is supposed to have a macassar ebony fretboard, but this one appears to be a Brazillian rosewood board, like that of the 2007 Artist package. In any case, this is a super nice guitar that plays and sounds fantastic.

I've been lurking in this forum for a couple of weeks now and it seems like a nice community. I'm happy to be a member of it.

Wowwww... That's a killer guitar. Congrats.
Looking at the headstock, I'm quite sure it's a Macassar ebony veneer. But I think the fingerboard may be something else because I don't see the yellowish stripes on it.

You might check for the detailed specs yourself by decoding the MODCAT. Kindly look at this pinned useful page by rugerpc:

Decoding MODCAT is fun, don't miss to try!

Beautiful guitar! Nice to have you participating. Like FF said, the modcat will will give you lots of details about the guitar.

Congratulations - Great to meet another PRS Hollowbody owner. I also have a 2008 Hollowbody and it has not dissapointed.

Thanks. They don't come out in the pictures but the fretboard does have yellowish stripes. It looks similar to the second one at this link:

So it all adds up. For some reason I expected an ebony fretboard to be pitchblack. According to the serial number it would be from sometime late spring 2008 so it's not a "transition" guitar (made early 2008 with 2007 specs), if PRS has those.

I'm not sure that I want to check the pickup cavity for the MODCAT code at this time because the pickups are setup great and I don't want to mess with them. Maybe I'll find the courage at the next string change.

Macassar ebony definitely has stripes. The pitch black ebony has historically been the Gabon ebony, though even that is changing as Taylor is now harvesting stuff that has more grain to it.

And that is one beautiful guitar!

Take out the 4 screws holding the pickup ring on. That will keep the pickup the same as it was before.

Previously I looked at your posted photo using my mobile phone and I can't see fingerboard clearly enough. But having a look again on my computer screen, I think the fingerboard probably made from Macassar ebony too.

for the MODCAT, you don't need to bring up the pups - just look either at the hang tag or one particular side of the case (see pics). I'm not sure where the MODCAT sticker is on HB case, but hope this help.
