NGD: 2001 PRS CE22 Maple Top

Just received this thing two days ago from Dave's Guitar Shop (thanks, guys!). Sounds fantastic, it's in great shape but definitely has seen it's days as a workhorse.

However, I am still contemplating if I should return it, as I feel that it doesn't have the tone and mojo I was expecting. It is fairly bright, but nothing I couldn't fix with my amp's EQ. It's a nice guitar overall but I think I should be going for a Custom 22 or DGT.

Congrats! Well...maybe LOL. The CE definitely has a deferent sound than what you are getting from the Bernie. It's a beautiful guitar and I say ROCK IT! (I got my CE 2 weeks ago and am loving it!) However if it is not to your tastes, definitely return it for something that is!

Aaaaaahhhhh. It's shipping back tomorrow. I just couldn't justify spending that much on an instrument that I'm not very happy with. It's been a good few days though.

But I got a replacement coming in next week. Stay tuned.

That is a gorgeous CE...and I detect a color theme going on here...CE's are great, I would A/B it with a CU22 or DGT with the same setup before you return it. Can't speak for the DGT, but considering that's a hog/maple CE that you would pit against a hog/maple CU22, which would also likely have Dragon IIs, the difference would probably not be as pronounced as you think. I like the Dragon IIs in my 2000 CU22 semi-hollow, but some are unimpressed by them. A pickup swap might be what you need. Hope it works out for you...she sure is purty...

Alas, twas only a joke. I actually have a '95 CE22 on layaway that isn't dissimilar to this one. Similar color, just a bit more red. I'll be sure to post some pics when it comes home!
