Found a GREAT deal on a 2000 singlecut on guitar center used. For the price I got it for I fully expected it to be beat up when I received it, but to my surprise it is in stellar condition. Need to replace the tuners as the previous owner put black locking klusons on it. So I ordered some prs vintage locking tuners. But I am so ecstatic at how good of condition it is in. And so far I am digging these #7 pickups. But, I do think I need to re arrange the control layout. Volumes are in the completely written place for me, lol. Need it to be more like my Les Pauls.

Congrats on a great guitar! PRS makes some awesome singlecuts.

I agree about the control layout, the LP style is hardwired in my brain. Of the four PRS SC's I have, all the layouts are different from the LP and most are different from each other.

A black and clean rock machine! Who could want anything more!! Congrats and enjoy ;~))
Yeah I had been on the search for an all black singlecut or McCarty for a while. Never realized how infrequently they come up used at a good price. I stumbled on this one on GC used for under 1400, which I think is a steal, especially now seeing that it is in amazing condition. Only draw back was they didn't have the case anymore. Ended up finding one on reverb at a good price. Arrives tomorrow.

Anything special about first years? I mean I know the later 594's. And the different scale length of different models. But, anything else different about first year.
They’re McCarty’s in Singlecut form with 2 volumes and 2 tones.
Solid mahogany bodies - the later Singlecuts and SC250’s were weight relieved
The 10-Tops of the era were killer.

Well, new PRS tailpeice, and Vintage locking tuners arrive tuesday, and I decided to go ahead and order a new nut as well since the E and A strings seem to be WAY to close to the first fret. The slots look like the previous owner was running piano wire for strings. Guitar came to me tuned WAY down low, so my guess is it was previously owned by a cookie monster guitar player. But fret not, I will return her to original.
Ordering up some original black speed knobs as well because i don't like the look or feel of these clear/black bell knobs.

Yeah I too sat with it in my cart for a while before finally deciding to pull the trigger. I got them down an additional 150 as well. And it was already priced well!

I haven't been able to put my finger on it...I've had one 2001 SC and I could not get the same feel out of an 04, an SC250, or an 07 Singlecut Soapbar Standard. The 2000/2001 run just had something ungodly magical in it. They were hefty without being TOO heavy...they are just great.

Mine was stolen and I mourn the loss still.
