Hi.
This is my first post here, my first PRS and my first guitar with humbuckers
After playing single coils for 20 years it was time to try a guitar with humbuckers. By lurking aroud here seeing all the beautiful guitars you guys had, the choice was easy, the McCarty.
Took a while to find one used here in Norway, but managed to get at hold of this one:
An original 2001 PRS McCarty 10-Top.
Stock McCarty pickups, push/pull split, wide-fat neck, case candy (3 PRS bottles + cloth), two PRS straps and case.
Of course the picture taken with my phone does not justify the beauty of the carved flamed maple top.
After playing C-shaped necks all my life I was a little worried about the so called wide-fat neck, but once I got it in my hands I didn't think about it again. It does not feel even fat or wide. I felt right at home with my palm on the stoptail right away.
I had imagined that humbuckers would have a little more "punch" to them, but these were more fat and smooth. Output wise it's the same as my Fender American Series Telecaster, that was a bit of a surprise.
To sum it up, a beauty, easier to play than my other guitars, smooth and fat.
