Spent a few hours of quality time checking out guitars, chatting and enjoying coffee at my fav guitar store. Prices of new guitars being what they are and generally preferring instruments that are already broken in, I spent time getting to know some wonderful guitars with experience. Kept coming back to this one. I’d pick it up and next time I know 30 minutes went up in smoke. It’s a ‘05 20th Ann Custom 22 with a 10-top and wide-thin neck. Serial # 5 93554. Apart from a ding or two it’s in great shape and the instrument really spoke to me. The Dragon II pickups have a specific voice and make a nice addition to my other guitars. The thin neck and slim body with provide the guitar with a light weight, an airy voice with great articulation and tons of sustain and resonance. It’s extremely ‘alive’ and playability is as effortless as it could possibly be.
One of the many things I admire PRS for is that they keep improving and the current ones are the best ever. It’s like “Yep, they did it again.” However this 20th Ann guitar is right up there.
Niggles? The tuners are stiff and the tuning buttons are smaller than I’d like. The thin neck does mean that chords can waver a bit if I move when playing or when I strum really hard. But that’s inherent.
Wonderful instrument! Would love to know its history. Where did PRS ship it to? How did it end up in Holland? I’ll probably never know but sure am glad it found its way to me.
