NF3 Alert!

The ”clutching for dollars” continues, now with a beat to crap version wanting better-than-new money. You’d think these guys would actually check guitars that sold and price nearer that, not ones that “ended” or have been on for months.

Oh well, not a chance… again

Almost forgot. $200 shipping. You know, because, like, you wouldn’t want it to get a scratch or something.

WTF is that - pretty much nothing right with that guitar , $800 tops so it can be rescued

Was Bruno wearing his Kiss outfit when he played this?!

That‘s amusing. when they came out, nobody wanted them, and the “traditionalist” wouldnt touch the narrowfield pickups. great guitars, and great pickups! I just laugh when I see people want them NOW!
Most guitarists didn’t like Telecasters or Les Pauls when they first came out. The same could be said of most innovations that buck tradition. It’s nothing new if you’ve been around a few years.

I’m glad you’re amused and laughing. It amuses the rest of us.

I was one of them. Didn't "get" the guitar at all when it came out.

In 2017, I bought mine brand new from a music store that was closing down. I saw it advertised and the price was great....so I decided to give a try. When I arrived, the sales people didn't even know they had the guitar. Apparently, after having it on the floor in 2012-13, and with not a single person even giving it a chance, the guitar was put into storage...just waiting patiently for me to come along and give it the attention it rightfully deserves!

Now? Those narrowfields are some of the best pickups ever IMO and that guitar is a lifer! I am happy this incredibly versatile and underrated guitar is finally getting some attention. But no one is ever getting mine! :)

. I’ve had them in a NF3, Mccarty 25th ann, and a SAS-nf. they are great pickups. it was just the guitars they were in I didnt bond with. I still have 2 narrowfields sitting in a drawer waiting for the right guitar to put them in.

Cool! Of those 3, what was your favorite? Any tonal/response differences?

Don't forget... the NF's also appeared in the "Studio" model (back around 2010, or 2011-ish?) with NF - NF - and a 57/08 in the bridge. I had one of those briefly and it was such a sultry guitar all-around (Angry Larry finish!) I wanted to love it so bad, but for some reason could not bond with it as helmi alluded to.

Ever since then, I've been trying to figure out, "Okay, what really is the best guitar to have the NF pickups in?" So much so that I even started this thread: https://forums.prsguitars.com/threa...erred-guitar-s-for-narrowfield-pickups.46622/

My first NF experience was with a studio in 2011.

It was always in the back of my mind and I really wanted a Studio stoptail in angry Larry to match my Custom 24 in the same color. I never found the right one and then the re-release of that model really drove used prices up.

My First NF is in my Special Semi Hollow and the funny part is without a rewire you can't get the NF alone , it does sound killer combined the the 58/15mt pickups. The NF3 is so interesting , you look at it and think Strat , then you play it and it sounds like a 3 pickup Les Paul but clearer

Let me say they sounded excellent in all 3 guitars, but a little different considering one had a mahogany body, one a korina body, and the other a swamp ash. If I had to pick one I thought they sounded the best in I’d say the Mccarty 25. I would love to hear them in a semi hollow.
