Hi,
Was thinking about either trading up or picking a new guitar around Christmas just for fun.
I play mostly rock.

I currently own an SE Zach Myers semi-hallow and a S2 Mira Semi-hallow (both both used, great deal on the S2). I found the Mira used cheap - has a bit of neck dive but great guitar. When I started shopping initially I wanted an SE or S2 Custom 24 but the Mira was such a great deal I just bought it.

Suggestions or thoughts on a SE or S2 PRS with some tonal variety from these other two I have - if i decide to keep both?

Any thoughts on trading up the zach myers for an S2 singlecut?
Thoughts on Mira tone vs the SE/S2 Custom 24?

Any suggestion on guitars to try out that would have significant tonal differences from these two I already own?

OP Grab an S2 Standard 22, I have a Mira as well and the Standard is a nice compliment with the trem and different pups, I have a Core and an SE but the S2s nail what I like in a guitar, great neck, comfy curves, and Quality well beyond their price...go to davesguitar.com and look for used ones or some of them are new sold at used prices...let us know what you decide...

Choices!

If you want a very different tone from your semis, the SE CU24 is a great place to look. It has a maple neck, which makes the tone bright and with snappy attack. Personally, not my thing, but some love it. Or, the SE CR is very cool, has the P90 neck if you like that sound.

If you want to look at S2’s, I agree with Russ, check out the satin models. They really do ring more, and fatter than the gloss models. The finish will get some “relic” wear with use, so if you’re ok with your guitar having some honest wear on the finish, you’ll love it.

If you’re not into those recommendations, I say whatever you get, go for a solid body. Generally I like the S2’s over SE’s where the specs are similar, unless you’re after something that is only made in SE, like the CR, for example. Don’t get me wrong, I have SE’s I love too, but just think the S2’s have enough going on to be worth the extra money.
