Hi all, just pulled the trigger on a Sweetwater exclusive

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/de...ic-guitar-quilt-charcoal-sweetwater-exclusive

I'm dropping in prs 57/08's the se locking tuners and having it plek'd. I've read that man-made bridges are a good upgrade. I saw the prs machined gen II bridges in the prs webstore, is that an option fitament wise, or?

Also want to find some chrome, or nickel volume knobs, is there a standard size I should be looking for?

Go for mannmade bridges. Ideally 2000nos but those are very hard to find. His 2 piece bridges are very nice. He makes a black nickel one that would look great on your guitar.

for knobs: you’ll need metric versions as long as you don’t change any of the pots. The PRS lampshade knobs that they put on US models will also fit and I think blend in well.

My only additional advice would be to install a tusq nut or core nut. Both are great and will allow you to increase string size to 10’s, I think even 11’s with tusq.

Beautiful choice of a guitar. I love the matching headstock.

Wow, you’ve gone right for the kill on this one! 57/08’s and the SE locking tuners are two of the best upgrades you can make.

I believe any PRS or Mann bridge should be a drop in, just make sure you get new mounting screws with whatever you get. I put the Mann 2000NOS on one of my S2’s and like it a lot. That said, I’ve also got a few guitars with the stock SE/S2 bridge, and haven’t felt like I had to upgrade it, so you may want to just try it stock and see what you think first.

The upgrade I would recommend before the bridge is to have PRS USA electronics put in as well. The pots and switches on SE’s could be better. You could have Sweetwater do it as long as they’re already in there installing the pickups, and in fact it may be a better option than doing it yourself, because the holes for the pots will need to be reamed out to a larger diameter, they should be able to do a pro job of it for you.

Thanks guys - Yeah I might have to wait to have the bridge done,The Mann 2000NOS aka the unicorn will take a bit to track down - I wanted to take advantage of the fact the guitar is there in their shop, so whatever can be taken care of might as well. I'm sure for some the perspective will be why not find a great used US made custom 24 instead, and it's a good point, considered it, spent a week on eye candy for sure. Was ready to grab a new/older stock burl release SE and jut decided to take another check on sweetwater and saw theses and the voices said - look no further, your good.

Thanks for the pots suggestion, I'll def mention to my rep - appreciate you guys!!

Tuners, nut, knobs are quick and easy. Pickups and bridges will set you back quite a bit

Will share some eye candy for sure. Waiting for that; "your item has shipped" email with child like anticipation. Anyone know the size of the knobs on the overseas se models, assuming they are different than US made (metric vs. Standard)? Looks like in general for guitars its either 1/4 or 6mm
