Hi all -

I have a P245 Semi Hollow, and was thinking about my next PRS. Either want a 408 or a hollowbody. Now, my question, how much of a difference tonally is there really between these three models? Are they going to sound very different, or more like different shades of the same color? I don't live conveniently to play them in persot.

So it'll be more about feel -- both of those have a 25" scale neck, so slightly longer scale (really minor) -- I think you'll notice a bigger difference on the finish of the neck. Also, both go in different directions, one's a hollowbody, the other's a solid body, with your semi-hollow in between the two. I'm actually trading up my HBII for a maple necked HBII, so a nice side effect is it will have that satin-y finish that I <3 so much.

Tonewise, you'll have to ask others. I have found my ear is not discerning enough to be able to tell but subtle differences between them all, and one can accomplish more tonal differences with judicious dialing in of tone on one's amp. I think the playability should be more of a determining factor.

I think the 408 is the more modern sounding of the three overall. So it depends on the direction you want to go :-)

The 408 will sound the most different out of all 3. Agree with above it will sound more modern than the P245 & HB
