Greeting folks!

I'm new to the PRS world and obviously to the forums. I know I'm stepping into a fantastic - and potentially expensive - world and I'm quite excited. I haven't been playing for the last 10 years but all of a sudden I feel the urge to start again. I was mostly an acoustic finger picker but now I am more attracted to the electric world - must be my mid-40's crisis.

I have _always_ wanted a PRS since the very first time I saw one many years ago. It's time to get one. I have read all the reviews, listened to many online demos but I still can't decide for the S2 Custom 24 or the Custom 22. As this will be my only guitar I kind of want a jack-of-all-trades and my feeling is that the Cu24 is more modern rock to metal oriented while the Cu22 is more a classic rock blues thing. Am I correct?

So what would be your take?

Cheers and looking forward to sharing with you all!

Philippe.

Can't go wrong with 24 or 22 neck pickup in a 22 might be a bit fuller sounding , both guitars could do anything you like but once you get one more will follow :)

IMHO it mostly depends on whether you want the extra two frets. Although there will be tonal differences, I'm not sure you would notice so much since this will be your first and perhaps only (ha! I don't believe that for a second) PRS.

Do you find the 21 frets of a strat to be more than a little annoying? Do you feel the 22 frets of a typical Les Paul is enough? You may be fine with 22 frets. Do you want to have a full two octaves of notes to play with on every string? Then you need 24 frets.

The pickups are different between the two models - not sure if you have a preference. That may drive your decision more than the number of frets...

Thanks folks. I don't really care for the extra two frets. I was more concerned by the differences in sound between the 24 and the 22 and since no local dealer carry either I will rely on your advice.

PS I know this ain't gonna be my last PRS haha. Looks like once you step into the brand you're in for some expenses! Sounds great!
