been a classical player my whole life!

Meanwhile, I'm also new to this forum, and I've always thought the PRS guitars were incredibly beautiful. I'm going to get one and very soon. I'm actually leaning towards an Orianthi, but the Dave Navarro model is quite stunning as well.

Anyone care to share with me their experiences with these particular guitars?

My live applications will be a clean tone rhythm guitarist with lots of open tunings,

thanks!

I own the flat-topped sparkled red Orianthi and I gotta tell you.. I freakin' love that guitar! The korina/maple/maple/ebony combo is really nice, it's got a certain "weight" to the tone but it's still snappy. articulate, and defined... I reach for it way more than I do my SECU24 'cause it's less "smooth" if you will. I swapped the pups for DII's, swapped tuners and electronics..blah blah.. and it totally hangs with my "core" PRS guitars.

I use it primarily for clean tones and it can easily do funky to jazzy, the only concern you may have if you're doing a lot of open tunings is the trem, but don't let that stop you from checking one out.

thanks for your reply. much appreciated. I just found out about the carved top Orianthi and it looks amazing. Ive played a MD made PRS before and the pups were so hot, I had no need for pedals. It was really something else.

As far as try before you buy, I'm more'nlikely going to make the decision online. so I'm just seeing what other owners have to say about their guitars.

I haven't played either, but have played oh their SE line guitars and have generally been impressed with the quality for the money. If you are looking at lots of different tunings, seriously think about a fixed bridge over a vibrato. That is, unless you just want a guitar with a vibrato. Good luck, and let us know what you end up with.
