hey everyone! This is my first post here. I recently graduated from college and am now gainfully employed and thought "it's time to graduate from my SE into the guitar I've been dreaming of since Jr. High."
I was able to purchase a 2013 513 in McCarty Tobacco burst and let me say, it is incredible. It's everything I dreamed it would be.

Here's my question - this guitar has Phase III tuners, and the previous owner removed the thumb screws and lost them. What's the best way of going about getting those replaced? I only see phase II thumbscrews for sale, are they the same?

also, what's the best way to post pictures? I'm not new to forums, but I am new to this one. Forgive my newness :)

thanks for your help!

First off, welcome! Nice score on the 513. Awesome guitar. As for the thumbscrews, I'm not sure if they're the same as the phase II, but I would recommend a call to prs support. If they aren't the same I'm sure they'd be able to sell you the appropriate phase III screws. I wanted a set of black p/u rings for my studio about 6 months ago. Made a call to prs and they were more than willing to get me a set.

Pic's.....

Some of those who know me say I'm a few sanwhiches short of a picnic but I worked how to post pic's from the link above and I bought a PRS Paul's Guitar. I can't be that silly ?

Congrat's looking forward to sharing your joy via the medium of HD colour pixelation.........

Why the heck would a person in their right mind remove the locking screws???????

I love the simplicity of PRS locking tuners and they just plain work

Here she is! Thanks for the help posting pictures, everybody (and of course the kind welcome)!

Note: I'm a musician, not a photographer...

Anyway, it's a non-10 but I love the color and the subtlety of the flame. I also love the tones - everything basically has a single-coil tendency (at least to my ear). I'm excited to get to play it more. Let me know what you think!

As far as the locking tuners, the PO said he thought they were more of a pain than they're worth so he took them off. I'm not sure why he didn't like them but I get the feeling I'll think they're great, so I'll have to give PRS support a call.

I didn't realize the strings would even stay on without the screws...

Anyway, that is one gorgeous guitar, I love that color and the flame. I know you'll love her as much as I love my PRSi!

Maybe they're wound around the post like non-locking tuners??? Nice guitar! I don't think the screws are different than Phase II, but don't know for sure.

Score. Great burst.

I though my Paul's was a bit technical with the two little coil tap toggles and 3 way pick up selector. What's the story with the two blade selectors, how does that work, does that give you 10 way switching ?

Thanks for sharing.

Enjoy

They're just wound the old school, non-locking tuner way.

13-way. Lower blade is a strat type 5-way pickup selector, upper blade chooses between single coil, tapped bucker, and heavy bucker.

Or maybe they're switched. I can't remember off the top of my head haha

Sounds like Mr PRS might have driven some Big Rig's before he got into making guitars, Two sticks and 13 speeds. Who makes the switches for the 513's , Eaton ? High gain, clean, toggle, high gain, clean, toggle.....

if you don't know trucks that will make sense at all......

hell yeah! 513 for the win! congrats and welcome
They seem underrepresented. I absolutely love the tones I get from mine.

It's okay, I was way into BMWs for a while. I could piece together the meaning from my general understanding of transmissions.
