I'm lookin' to build a pedalboard and was wondering what y'all are rockin' for an envelope filter/follower/auto wah, anybody got a favorite?
Looking for something small that does both "up" and "down".

My Strymon Mobius has that ability but it doesn't work as well running through the FX loop of the amp. When I re-wire my new pedalboard I am planning to run certain effects (stuff that responds to dynamics like auto-wah) into the front of the amp and other effects through the FX loop. What's awesome about the Mobius is I can wire it up that way and program the effects to run one way or the other. Did I mention how much I love that pedal?

I use the Eventide ModFactor for all that (and more, of course) but it's not small. However, their H9 is a more manageable size and does an awful lot of things that you might have a use for on your pedalboard. You can program it (from a computer, iPhone and iPad) with a variety of Eventide's effects. Cool, if you like what the Eventide stuff sounds like and does.

Moog has a minifooger pedal that is very interesting; it uses a ladder filter to create not only filtering but drive effects (and is called the Drive, reassuringly). I haven't had a chance to try one of these, but I think it might be just the ticket for some interesting sound creation, and off the beaten path of what everyone else is doing.

Those are good suggestions above and I agree with the above, the H9 may be worth looking into. I am a big Eventide fan. I also like the Qtron but it has a big footprint. I know guys that like The Meatball but I found it challenging to dial in. The Proton gets a lot of praise so that might be an option. But if you find a MXR from the late 70s / early 80s that could be a good option. I love mine. Especially with an EQ in front of it. You could probably find one for about $100. And they're small.

I'm going to feel REALLY stupid if this doesn't turn out to be what you're asking about.

Perhaps you might want to check out this link:

I purchased a TC Electronic pedal from Pro Guitar Shops and later found their YouTube channel that has a ton of demos

I love Edge's sound, and have never really attempted it...but after watching this link, I'm going to try. Hopefully the WAH he's using in the demo is what you're wanting. They run about $300

Serg...Aguilar makes an envelope filter for bass that has separate up and down controls...don't know what eq it offers...maybe check that out too...?

Hilarious thread title.

Have you tried a Subdecay Prometheus or an Emma DiscumBOBulator?
Oh, or a WMD Super Fatman?

Does it have a choice for the filter to open "down" also?

My bad…

I have the Dynamic Wah, the "AW-3". I was at the office when I posted this…

And yes, it can go either "up or down"...
