New Super Eagle - 529 variants? Mayer and Dead & Co last night

. So what is Mayer's new PRS???

I haven’t a clue what the specifics are. However, I’d imagine it’s quite possible that it’s a one off to his specifications, and may not see the light of day, a la Super Eagles 1&2.

Mayer is playing “Wolf” (one of Garcia’s Doug Irwin guitars. The first, IIRC). As much as I love Garcia’s playing and music, I have to say, Mayer’s PRSs sound better, more alive and present, to my ears.
Still, it’s a really cool tribute

I thought the same thing about "Wolf"...tinny and flabby bass, and John appeared to be struggling with the guitar for the first few tunes. Definitely ain't a guitar that is as refined as the PRS fleet.

I’m sure JM’s rig is optimized around his main guitars and “Wolf” may not have been set up perfectly for him...he sounded pretty good to me but I agree he’s stronger on his PRS guitars.

After listening to more of the concert I think Mayer or the sound people got Wolf dialed in better as it went along.
