So for my new to me 2000 Singlecut I wanted to spruce her up a bit and I ordered some vintage locking tuners, and a new tailpiece with the brass inserts.
When I went to put the tailpiece on i wanted to change the studs as well since it came with new studs, but the studs wouldn;t thread into the bushings.
Thought this was odd as I know it's a US thread, and my guitar is a core model. but when trying to thread them in it got about 7 or 8 turns in and started to bind up so I immediately stopped and backed it out.
For now it I just replaced the tailpiece, which isn't the end of the world as their really was nothing wrong with the studs that were on thier. Just thought if i was replacing it and it came with nice shiny new studs why not do the whole thing. Just thought it was odd and i guess i wanted to see if anyone else ever had this issue.

I think the tolerances are very tight (pun intended.) I've replaced old studs with new ones and some have been very tight, while others were just snug. Are they both binding? How do the threads look after you removed the new studs?

Threads on the stud looked a little chewed for lack of a better word. Not cross threaded, but definitely not smooth.
