I just bought one of the new 2017 SE Custom 24s and I'm looking for recommendations on popular upgrades/mods. I'm thinking of changing the nut to a TUSQ XL and maybe swapping out the tuners for dinner locking ones. Anyone tried the GFS Sperzel style locking tuners? I heard they are pretty good for the price. Any other recommendations? Feel free to share you favorite mods and post pics!!!

Locking tuners are a popular mod, try to get a model that fit the existing mounting hole and screw location. Grover 406c's fit, as do the Schiller M6's. Or John Mann will add phase II style locking screws to your SE tuners (probably what I would do if you're in the USA). Big +1 for the Tusq XL nut.

NGD!!! Here's a pic:

Beautiful! Don`t go nuts on the mods till you live wth it for a while. See what you like and don`t like, then change it to make it yours. Remember any money spent will probably not be gotten back if you sell it. I'm a huge fan of Hipshot open back tuners with the U.M.P. Mounting plates. You don`t drill any holes, and you get American made high quality tuners for a good price. If you sell the guitar, you can keep the tuners. The Tusq nut is good, but you can also consider the PRS wide/fat wide/thin nut. I use Tusq on the stoptails, and the PRS on the tremolo guitars.
