First let me say I am an Amp Distortion guy. With that said I recently bought a Tonal Insanity Little Big Horn pedal that has added a new dimension to my rig.

I mostly play guitars with humbuckers through my modded Marshall JVM 210 and I am 100% happy with my tone!! I also have a PRS SE EG with Fender Texas Specials loaded in it. It just never sounded right straight into the amp so I got a Boss DS 1 and use that into the clean channel. This was a big improvement and I knew I was on the right track. Still something was missing...

I saw an amazing video demo of the Bogner Red pedal, it really blew me away. I looked at the price and wasn't thrilled about a $300 pedal I would only use here and there. I looked for a used one but was not quick enough on a few deals. My local GC got one in and I gave it a go through a Bad Cat amp with a PRS SE Santana. I was very underwhelmed and breathed a sigh of relief I did not waste my money. I will be happy with my DS 1.

One of our fellow PRS Forum rockers, Rider, has a line of pedals called tonal insanity. Many of you have probably seen the CRGTR demos. There are many types with lots of possible adjustments to tailor the tone.

I wanted something to use through my clean channle and give me magic and also to possibly use as a flavor to add to my gain side. I tried all of the pedals out and the Little Big Horn seemed to fit the bill. I must say when I first got it home I was a little unsure. I spent more time on the second try and really dialed it in. It make my single coil guitars sing with bite and growl and my humbuckers have a new flavor to choose from.

The pedal has volume and tone, drive and fuzz with swiches for tone shaping and fuzz type. I look at it as kind of a Tube Screamer and Fuzz Face combination pedal. I am using it with the shape set to flat transparent tone and volume with the drive up and a splash of fuzz. The fuzz control is the wild card here, it can take the pedal from grit to on the edge of exposion ( think Hendrix cranked through some old Marshall with a Fuzz Face waaay too loud!).

Bottom line: Small solid pedal, built like a tank, very nice looking, tons of great tone and options and best of all made by one of our PRS Forum brothers. Lets rally around Mike and give these a try - you will love them!!!

Congrats on the new pedal! I'll have to check out Mike's stuff, sounds very cool.

I'll add, I'm also an "amp distortion" guy, for a long time struggled with mid price range pedals but couldn't get them to match up to my amp quite right. But in the last year or so, I've coughed up the cash for a couple of boutique drive pedals, man, what a difference. It was a hard pill to swallow, as a guy that really likes to get bang for the buck (love my SE's), but the USA made high end pedals, when you find one that fits, really are worth the price. Sounds like I'll have to look into tonal insanity next.

Bangin'!

I really dig Mike's pedals, especially his smaller ones. Good call on the LBH being a mixture of TS and FF, great pedal for someone that wants fuzz occasionally along with distortion.
