So I have been collecting some new fun upgrade toys over the past several months. From various sources. Some legitimate. Some mostly legitimate...thought I would share :)

  • MannMade NOS2000: just arrived! Going into my new CE24 (probably tonight) just because I want to (and see below)...

  • 85/15 Pickup Set: likely going into my Scarlett Red 1992 CE24 maple top. Coz that would be fun to A/B old vs. new CEs on a relatively level playing field. Have a PRS Custom Drop-In 3-way w/ push-pull conversion kit (not shown) to accompany this.

  • 58/15 Pickup Set: going into ??? TBD. I am somewhat limited cosmetically, as the PTC recommended against removing the covers due to the wax potting. Gold poles.

  • 59/09 Pickup Set: generation 1 (no squabbins) with new gold covers from Philadelphia Luthiers. Going into a Knaggs Keya which has all-gold hardware. Going in with a PRS Custom Drop-In 3-way w/ push-pull as well.

This kit should keep me out of trouble for awhile...

OK I can hear y'all rolling your eyes...

I wanna try the 85/15s. Guess I should try to be a little more "with it" in scouring the used aftermarkets.

..and before someone says "go to your local dealer and try one" like PRSh would say, I say "Try to find this at a dealer in Phoenix, betcha can't."

I got the opportunity to try them in a lovely 30th anny Custom 24 artist package with a maple neck and board. The 85/15 pickups are definitely some of the best I've ever heard. I might've traded my car for that guitar given the opportunity..

How did you obtain those pickups? I want the illegitimate details.

I thought this said 'New Pants Day'
Oddly, I still clicked it

Brian...I am sorry, but I actually had to SELL all of my pants. To afford guitars. So I'm not wearing any. I also managed to make a nice house out of guitar shipping boxes ;) It is a bit drafty, all things considered...

Nothing magical. Right place at right time I guess. And spending WAAAAYYYY too much time looking on the internet. All the time. Different strokes for different folks, so people are indeed pulling these pickups from their PRSes and selling them.
