Was at GC today and saw a used "Stripped 58" for about $1,800. Hardware I have never seen before. All brushed aluminum hardware including the pickups and a large stop tailpiece with odd string slots. Silver body with a blue burst which looked ok but a really heavy and chunky body. The area in back of the bridge looked almost 2 1/2 + inches thick and heavy. Special edition? Not in 2015 catalog.

That's the one! Surprised at how heavy it was.

They're fantastic guitars. I had one a while back (now have a McCarty Singlecut with the same bridge BTW).

The string slots mean you don't have to thread strings through holes in the tailpiece, the strings just slip into the slots, and lock into the tuning pegs. Cuts stringing time in half!

Some are pretty hefty because the model is not "weight-relieved." It's full-on, real-deal, solid 'hog and maple. Great sounding guitars!

Ya had to tell me that!!! Crap, I just bought my son a new Macbook Pro and $800 in college books for his sophomore year. Total cost about the same. I was shocked at the weight and thickness of the body and of course the sales guy was like…"they are all like that!" I'm over it and happy with my two recent purchases and still getting used to the string spacing after playing and not playing a stratocater reissue for 20+ years.

BTW, I followed the John Ingram video on you tube to re-string, intonate and set the tremolo on the CE 24 with 9-42's. Plays beautifully for such a novice player and tinkerer.
