Hi all I am now a proud owner of a prs se custom tremonti currently running stock 9 gauge strings which I love playing
one problem tuning down seems to take forever to get right I have one song in my set list which is black bird played in e flat (the rest in standard) id like to carry on playing 9 gauge though any tips to stop the slow re tuning on this gorgeous guitar? Many thanks

I'm not sure if there's anything you can do to speed up that process. A guitar with a floating trem is going to take a couple of rounds through each string to get them all in tune when drop-tuning them. And even then you might need a slight bridge adjustment. You might consider taking another guitar for that one song. If you're really crazy, you could play it in standard :o

Welcome aboard! You sure the singer can't just sing it in E? That's a lot of hassle for one tune.

If not, can you do it as the first song of a set? Gives you time to down tune on the break. In my experience it's quicker to tune up vs. down. I would actually drop each string down a whole step first, and then tune up to Eb to get the slack out of the tuner posts.

Locking tuners might help make it a bit quicker.

And of course, the most obvious answer is to buy a second PRS and tune it to Eb. ;)

Oh, that's right, the Custom has the vibrato bridge. In that case, a Tremol-No would be a great idea. Set it to down-only mode or lock it completely when you down tune. But I'd still avoid the hassle for one tune, if it was me.

Best option and no resson not to have one in case you wanna do drop D or string breaks

Get a second PRS, don't fight it. the more you play your PRS the stronger the urge to buy another one will be! When you tune down, Go way flat on E like maybe two notes lower than target note then on A don't go quite as far and D not quit as far as the A string and so on so that you get to high E you may hit target note and be close on all strings. Takes practice. Welcome and good Luck!

Many thanks for all the suggestions wish I was talented enough to transcode will leave for encore I think didn't want to muck about with switching to tens as I think the factory setting and height if strings is perfect :)

Switching to tens will help playability at Eb but you will have same struggles down tuning on stage. That won't change.
