I have an S2 Custom 24 with a 3 way, push/pull tone control and a set of \m/ pickups installed. I bought it this way and have picked up a new PRS wiring harness from a PRS dealer (by mail) with a volume, tone and 5 way, same as a Core model. I'm looking at changing the pickups to something more traditional (ie lower output, like PRS 58/15's, 57/08's but I'm not overly familiar with anything other than a 2 conductor pickup wire.

Which PRS pickups will work with Core harness and especially the 5 way blade selector? I'm not opposed to buying used either. Dave

I can’t tell you how to wire it as my S2 has the dual tone/volume and 3-way, but you should be able to wire any of the multi-conductor pickups to that wiring harness (or really any pickup for that matter).

I don't think it will work (but I could be wrong) with a 2 conductor wire since it has 5 positions, same as a Core model.

I imagine the current 85/15 will work with that harness, but 2 conductors will not work, just with the 3 way switch

That is what I was thinking. FWIW I own a Core DGT and just picked up a Core McCarty w stoptail and am looking to squeeze a bit more out of the S2...

I'm looking at 57/08's as well as 58/15 TM's. Will both of these work with a 5 way blade? Which other PRS pickups (lower type output) work with the Core harness?

You can use PRS pickups that have the black/braid/tap wires with the blade, with a little tweaking...

Some more ways to get the stock 5-way selections. These are for the PRS single conductor pickups with the white tap wire.

In this scenario, Bare is shield and ground, Black is hot, White is tap. Pickups are same polarity.

At first I worked it out like this. It makes an easy replacement for the stock wiring since you can reuse all the jumpers that were already there. You just need to find a happy place to ground those braided wires. You may want to use some heat shrink tubing to avoid shorts.

I later realized you can do this with only one row of lugs, which frees up the second row for other ideas if you want.

I picked up a new set of 85/15's today. I'll wire it up same as the Core Custom 24 at this point and see how that works. Dealer also had a set of 58/15 LT's as well but I have those in my Core McCarty so while I like those a lot, I decided to do something a little different.
