Hi Guys,cool forum.
I picked this beautiful SE custom 22 up and have fallen in love with it.
such a nice guitar, great feel and great tone.
Have used it in drop C tuning and standard tuning and sounds fantastic with my mesa dual.
I have tried to find out info on the stock P/Us that came in it but have found nothing.
can anyone tell me anything about them,specs,high/ medium output anything.
i really like the tone from them and don't feel a swap is needed, just like to know about them.
It was built in 2006 and the only markings on the bottom of the pickups is a B and N,bridge/neck no other markings.
any help would be appreciated.

Hi Mike, welcome to the forum.

As far as I know, in 2006 there was only one type of SE pickup used for all the guitars. It wasn't until somewhat recently that they began using variations such as HFS/VintBass and SE245's. i've never seen a specific spec sheet on those guitars, though anyone with a voltmeter could get some actual resistance ratings and would then be comparable to other pickups. If I had to guess, I'd say they were voiced medium output, trying to get a good medium for all styles. Maybe they were guided by Dragons 2's, but again that's pure speculation.

I would say comparable to DII's is a fair comparison, they may be even a bit hotter. I had an SE22 from around that time, and if memory serves, the bridge PU was about 15k and the neck was 12k. I swapped my bridge out for a dimarzio on that guitar, just to see what would happen, and it wasn't a huge improvement - they're decent pickups.

I think they're made by G&B pickups, or it was the later versions of the pickup that were made by them. There used to be more info on the pickups on the axesrus website, but they removed it quite some time ago. The bridge is really hot, a bit like the real deal HFS in terms of output, though not as transparent sounding. The neck's output is about medium output, I used to play classic rock leads (sweet child o mine etc.) through it and it sounds about right for that type of stuff. That's all I know about them. I have since swapped them out for dimarzio d activators, because I love high-output pickups into low-med gain amps  not that I play a lot of brutal metal though...

thanks for the reply's guys.
i really dig the tone.i am an active guy but use dimarzio evos in my few non active guitars and was going to swap the stocks out for an evo set but the overall tone from this guitar is too good to mess with.they sure are hot sounding to my ears.this puppy stays as is.

Well, if you're an active guy, you can try the d-activators. Passive pickups with lots of EMG-esque features, except they sound more "passive". Also saves you the trouble to gut the whole guitar for rewiring. No batteries required, so that's a plus over EMGs. Really good stuff. Couldn't be more happier with mine. :top:

i have a set of Ds.dont mind them but like the evos better.this guitar will stay as she is,real happy with the whole package.:top:
