Okay, so I did a bit of a deep dive into the PRS Billy Martin, and played her for a while, super clean, a little dirty, and then full on wall of Foghat.
I am hearing something that I haven't encountered in all my decades of playing, and thru all the dozens and dozens of guitars that I have owned, bought, and sold. And I'm probably not going to say it quite right;
Most dual humbucker guitars sound like the same guitar, no matter which way you throw the 3-way switch.
Okay, this is this guitar with the switch in the neck position. Warm. Sounds good.
Yep, this is this guitar with both pickups active. A little more bite. Broad. Sounds slightly different, still good.
Bridge position, there's the full treble voice of this guitar. Razor sharp, still good, but still this guitar.
This PRS, it's very much different.
Each of the three positions on the switch sound like dramatically-different guitars.
Yeah, it's neck, middle, and bridge.
But each offering sounds like three completely different guitars.
It's fabulous, and very interesting to me.
Still, I'm scratching my head.
Long time PRS owners, are all their other models like this??
I'm in uncharted territory here.
