I don't know what's different about this McCarty where I just liked it so much better than the other McCarty models I've owned previously and parted with. The asking price for starters really got my attention. With the rise in price of guitars these days, I"m too broke to be buying them brand new anymore. So I took it for a test drive in the store. The feel or "playability" if you prefer was fantastic! Set up with 9's, the low action that I really like and the neck didn't feel like a baseball bat. It's not as light as I would have expected, being that it has a Korina body. No idea what pickups are in it and no idea why is says USA ONLY on the back of the headstock. Perhaps a Brazilian fingerboard. Anyway, I felt like I REALLY needed to adopt this guitar and give it a proper home, you know?
Here's what I've been told about this guitar.
Previously owned by Paul Reed Smith Band member Mike Ault. The guitar has been naturally relic'd because it has been played A LOT. The guitar was supposedly built for him my Paul Smith himself, and then after it had the headstock broken, it was said that PRSh repaired the headstock break and "painted" the back of the headstock with a black "stinger" design, and then reapplied the date, serial number & USA ONLY message.
What I also like about this guitar is that my wife & I got married in 2013 so I like stuff with 2013 on it.
