So, I was "this" close to swapping out the RP pups for my recently acquired Dragon I pups. I also bought a PRS Tuxedo 1x12 closed cab the other day. So, I slaved my Rivera Quiana Studio 1x12 into the cab loaded with a Celestion V30 and, boy, my Modern Eagle I just sings!

IMO, RP pups have incredible clean presence that can sometimes be too bright when overdriven. It needs a touch of veil for a lack of better words. V30 speakers, especially in closed back cabs in my opinion, tend to produce great mids and "thump" that work well with bright pickups by smoothing out the top end without choking it. PLUS, RP pups are one of the best pickups when tapped for that single coil tones!

Now, I just need to get another Modern Eagle I to put these bad boy Dragon 1 pickups!

A rosewood neck SCT is really close to a ME ( MApete ) has a nice one for sale

I think you owe it to yourself to at least try the Dragons. If you don't like them, you can always put those RPs back.

I have some RPs that were in my McCarty.... But took them out... Anyone try RPs in a singlecut or Custom 22?

I'm saving up for another ME I, or at least a SC Rosewood for this set of Dragons :) My RP's really sound good through my newly acquired Orange RV100 as well.

some people never bonded with the RPs.... They just need plenty volume to come alive.... a bit of crank and they are great!!
