New Archon 25.

Hello and thanks for letting me join. I just got an Archon 25 combo. The speaker seems a bit shrill. The amp is new so I know it’s going to need to break in. But I have a Celestion Alnico Gold and Vintage 30 laying round. Has anyone tried either of these speakers? Love the amp gigging it tonight.

Should have a V30 in it. I use an Avatar version of a broken in V30 in a 1x12 with mine. The Gold would sound pretty good, I’d think. I’ve also used it with Greenbacks. Like that sound, too.

Mines a 2018 model but it’s new as in one owner. It’s has the Celestion G12 speaker.

Ah, my bad. For some reason I thought the combo had a V30. I’d say swap away!

Gotta plus one this. I had one I a Bogner cab. Glorious!

Try the different speakers you have. Easy enough experiment with no cost. I wasn’t a big fan of the stock speaker in the combo I tried. V30 is the most commonly used. If you have one that’s broken in already, all the better!

I do. I think the stock speaker is okay. It is pretty stiff out the gate. I’m going to try a few with it to compare. It’s a loud little amp. I ran it on the 13 watt setting and kept up in big room last night.

Agree. I’ve got a Warehouse ET65, which is similar to that and it’s my favorite speaker with the Archon

I am going to try a Gold alnico. A JBL and V30 this week. Hoping to give the amp a better vintage flavor. Also some preamp tube rolling. I’ve got some vintage long plate sylvanias to try in V4 and V5
