Ok so the title might not seem too cool. I mean people put 5909's in CU24's all the time! Well the first catch is that it's my Brazilian Edition Custom 24 (349/500) and the second catch is that the 5909's are covered brushed nickel with hybrid hardware :D I am so beyond stoked to have a set of these in my most beloved PRS.

I was talking with the person I bought my Standard 24 from, now a friend, and we were discussing the different pickup options. He's been in the PRS community for years, he was on the old boards too. He said he would ask around but that I would more likely be able to find 5909's wound with angel hair ;) Lo and behold he texts me the next day saying he found the hybrid set!!!

I picked them up today, put them in and I was in heaven! I didn't bond with the VB/HFS combo that came with the guitar, so I now have those for a new project :)

Enough talk, time for pictures!

Awesome, now update those pickups rings, cause the bridge one is cracked. Of course it's ur awesome guitar and u dont have too.

Those 5909s are just fantastic pickups. My cu24 has them and I put one in the bridge of my McCarty. IMHO, they could very well be the best all around pickups on the planet.

I love the brushed-nickel/gold-screws look: had that on a set of humbucker-sized P90s in my old McCarty Braz. Artist Pack ... sometimes I think I never shoulda let that one go but I never did get it sounding quite right.

I'd love to get a set of those covered 59/09's myself.....glad you like them.

Nice!!! PRS covered/brushed pickups are the bee's knees. I wish they sold them in the accessory store with covers instead of just squabbins. Lookin good in that custom, I bet they sound awesome too!

Thank you! They sound incredible! I had emailed PRS to see if I could possible special order them but no luck. So thankful I made friends with the guy who sources them for me.

I'll probably get a set of Squabbins down the road for my Standard 24, but the D2's sound good in it right now. Very SG esque currently. The Brazilian just got a new sound that is as beautiful as the guitar itself.

Now that looks quite nice! And I bet it sounds great too...

How do the smaller knobs feel? Did you adjust pretty quickly?

I prefer the smaller knobs personally. I have played Fenders for years so they feel more comfortable. Plus I couldn't find any speed knob sized ones that would work.
