I just purchased a new Core model custom 24 from GC. It looks great, plays great, not a flaw anywhere. When I checked the SN I found it a 09 model. How they had a guitar that long without selling it seems funny to me. It has a letter from Paul Reed Smith identifying it as a July300 series that was hand picked etc. It's also a 10 top.

Should I be concerned about buying a "New" 5 year old guitar?

Nope, but forum rules indicate you must post pics or it's all just a dream.

Can we see the letter? I've never heard of a "July300" series. Post pics of your new axe while you're at it! We love guitar porn.

Its at my home. I'll bring it to work monday, scan it and post.

This post is worthless without pics!!!

I'm just having fun with you but seriously, post some dang pics!!!

NOS (new old stock) is a common thing. I've bought new guitars that were years old before. You'd be surprised how some retailers are with their warehouses. ;)

PICS!

How to post pics.

Also, one of my local dealers has PRS guitars manufactured in 2002 hanging on the wall that are still "new" and previously unsold. Probably because they're charging the same prices as a new one today for an older model with older features.

If he waits long enough those guitars will become genuine 'vintage' and he can INCREASE the price.

Pics! And congrats!

And no - don't sweat that it was five years old. I bought a 2007 insert brand name here last year - no issues whatsoever.

Not on this forum. You will have to host your pics elsewhere.

Nice! Gratz on the new Custom 24. I have a 2009 Custom 22 with 10-top (my first and, so far, only PRS) that I bought new at GC last November. It was also part of the "July 300" and I have the same letter. Love love love it!

As for uploading photos, you need to use a service like Photobucket to upload your photos and then link them here. Can't wait to see it. Here's mine in a not-so-great image.
